The Lamson Adventures!!!

Ayers Rock, Australia

Officially known as Uluru
Ayers Rock (Uluru) is located approx 480km south of Alice Springs. It boast being the largest monolith, standing 348 meters above the surounding desert.  Once again, using the Luxury Day Tours (8952 7751), we got a guided tour around the great red monolith. The rain, as you can see in the photos, put a bit of a damper on the climbing part, but it was neverhteless magnificent.  Arriving at around 9am, we visited the sacred sites around the rock. We did respect that they not be photographed. It was hard to hold back but it is sacred.

A few of the sites were the waterhole and the Aboriginal Art cave where they held school and taught the stories of the rock years and years ago.  We also ventures to the Aborignial Cultural Centre.  It was incredible. Again, we could not photograph the center though. The architecture of the building represented the story of the rock itself which is that the two great snakes came together to battle. I could not even try and describe the building, you have to see it.

As the clouds fell onto the rock, we were pretty sure the sunset was going to be a bust. They shut down the climb.

The Huntsman is a pretty spooky spider. Check it out on my spider page!!!
AR2
The lunch was something. I wish I had brought the tripod so we could have taken a photo together. Neil was out tour guide.
AR3
This is on the back of the rock near the watering hole and the teaching art. A site you have to see. Rain or shine!!!
AR4
The rangers had to rescue some of the hikers using ropes. The clouds got very thick on the one path that allows climbers to see the sacred top.
AR5
The waterhole just as it began to rain. It felt sacred as you stood in the cavern and heard the rain drops slapping the rock above you.

This is Luxory Tours big 4x4. It was like traveling in a really tough Limo!!!

The heavens parted and God tossed us a glimpse of sun to give us a site that will stay with us for all anniversaries!!!

We then rested as Neil set us up with a beautfully romantic lunch.  Lorreine, his wife, had prepared us a lunch of Savory Spinach rolls and Chicken and a few salads. Desert escapes me but the wine was outstanding. Romance romance romance.  Then we headed to the edge of Aryes Rock. We watched as the storm approached and LANDED on the rock.  I ended up with a Huntsman crawling up my leg. That was a exciting.  I am sorry I did not get more photos but the whole day ended with a rainbow shooting acrros the great red monolith. Wow!!! Money could not have bought this feeling. Drinking champangne and watching as the colors changed over and over.

Still to come on the Great Anniversary trip of 99 is Mt Connor, Ebeneizer Mountain, and the Olgas. The Olgas were even better than Ayers Rock (Uluru) in my opinion.  Loved it!!!  Hope I learn how to spell Ayers Rock by then.  :-)
