We loved Simpsons Gap. I wish I had taken more photos. The Gap is located just outside Alice Springs to the south. Open from 8am-8pm, it is one of the most popular places outside of Alice to visit. There is a bike trail that leads to the Gap. The bike path is about 15km. Very pretty walk down the sandy creek bed that remains empty most of the year. If you are lucky, you can see a gaggle or black-footed rock wallabies that will walk right up to you if you have food. But do not jump towards them, they are fast and will run.Took millions of years for the Gap to form. Rubbing of rocks has slowly formed the gap that we see today. I can not help thinking what it will look like in a few more million years. The West MacDonnells are very under rated in my opinion. Most of the places are relatively easy to get to and very close to Alice. Standley Chasm is one of my favorites.
